Megan Phillips has been in private practice since graduating from the University of Wisconsin Law School. She specializes in Litigation, Family Law, Business Services and Personal Injury. Specifically, Megan has assisted business owners and every day individuals in purchasing real estate, restructuring businesses, arranging financing for business acquisitions, and drafting closing documents. She also has organized limited liability companies, and reviewed leases and general business contracts. Megan’s experience also includes litigating business cases involving construction contracts, employment or wage disputes, breach-of-contract, and fraud claims. Additionally, she has represented many clients in divorces involving division of businesses and retirement plans, residential and commercial real estate division, child support, custody and placement issues.
Megan is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Wisconsin Law School where she teaches Negotiations and Mediation. She is also active in the James E. Doyle Inns of Court, the Dane County Bar Mentoring Program, and the Young Lawyers Division of the Wisconsin State Bar. She is on the Board of Directors of the Legal Association for Women. Megan is also a contributor to the legal publication called The Verdict as well as The Wisconsin Law Journal. She is a court appointed special advocate for abused and neglected children through the Dane County CASA program.
Megan completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin where she majored in journalism and psychology. Before attending law school, she worked for several years as a legal assistant and litigation specialist in Madison. Megan also worked as a Judicial Intern for Judge John W. Markson at the Dane County Circuit Court.
Traveling is one of Megan’s favorite pastimes, which is a passion she discovered when she backpacked through Europe for several months after her college graduation. She also enjoys tennis, playing cards with her lady friends, and the Farmer’s Market.
